Designing a сhore management app to reduce tension
What business problem was solved with this product?
Living with roommates often leads to friction around shared responsibilities like cleaning, shopping, and household maintenance. The concept addressed this by offering a structured, easy-to-use tool to assign tasks, send reminders, and visualize who does what, helping reduce passive conflict and avoid miscommunication.
Although the product never reached production, we fully developed and user-tested the design concept. We mapped user flows, designed key screens, and delivered a high-fidelity interactive prototype that showcased the core experience, including task assignment, progress tracking, and shared notifications. The design emphasized clarity, emotionally positive communication, and balanced participation, enhanced with light gamification, playful “homies-style” messaging, and even a custom in-app currency called Flatcoin.
