Empower patients with seamless healthcare experiences

What business problem was solved with this product?

I care about business objectives

The client, a private medical clinic Odrex, aimed to significantly improve the patient experience by offering a secure, seamless way for patients to schedule and manage appointments, store prescriptions, and access test results. Ready-made third-party solutions were not an option due to the sensitivity of patient data and the need for a custom workflow aligned with internal procedures and compliance requirements.

I focus on addressing user needs

Our team was tasked with designing a comprehensive mobile application for both iOS and Android, specifically tailored to the clinic’s patients. The goal was to reduce the load on front-desk staff by providing patients with a simple, secure way to schedule appointments, view test results, and manage prescriptions. We were introduced to the in-house team of developers and served as an augmented UX/UI design team.

Who is who

Odrex is one of the leading private healthcare providers in Ukraine, offering advanced diagnostics, surgery, outpatient care, and 24/7 emergency services.

Maximorum was brought in as the dedicated product design team, working hand-in-hand with Odrex stakeholders and developers to deliver a secure, patient-centered mobile experience across iOS and Android platforms.

Challenge

A leading healthcare provider needed a secure, clinic-specific mobile app for iOS and Android to enhance the patient experience without relying on third-party platforms. Patients struggled to schedule appointments, access prescriptions and test results, and had ongoing concerns about the security of their sensitive medical data.

Additionally, the lack of direct communication channels with clinic staff led to frustration, delays, and unnecessary administrative load. The challenge was to design a seamless, patient-centered solution that addressed these issues while strictly adhering to healthcare privacy and compliance standards.

Approach

Initially, we conducted an extensive research phase to deeply understand the needs and pain points of clinic patients. This involved engaging with potential users and stakeholders to gather actionable insights.

Following the research, we created detailed user journey maps to visualize the entire patient experience, from initial contact through to post-appointment follow-up. This helped us identify key interactions and touchpoints where the new app could make a significant difference. We developed a comprehensive Information Architecture and flowcharts to outline the structure of the app and its logic.

Parallel to prototyping, we developed a design system and started building a set of components. This ensured consistency across the app, providing a cohesive look and feel while speeding up the development process.

Finally, the handoff phase involved closely working with the external team of developers to ensure they had everything needed to bring the design to reality.

Impact

The app saw rapid adoption shortly after launch, with strong uptake across both iOS and Android platforms, reaching up to 50K downloads on Google Play alone. Its intuitive experience and reliability quickly made it a go-to tool for patients managing appointments, prescriptions, and test results.

Thanks to a robust design system and close collaboration with developers, the product was delivered efficiently and on time across both platforms. As team lead and hands-on designer, I ensured a smooth design workflow and a predictable handoff process – something the in-house Odrex development team highlighted as a key contributor to the project’s success.

Due to NDA restrictions, specific metrics and some visuals are not disclosed. However, the product successfully addressed key patient pain points such as appointment friction, lack of access to records, and communication gaps while also delivering measurable operational outcomes for the clinic.
